Optikos Acquires Omega Optical to Deliver Complete Optical Workflow Under Single Ownership
Wakefield, MA, 29 September, 2026 – Optikos®, a provider of engineering, manufacturing, and metrology services in optical systems, has acquired Omega Optical, a precision optical coatings and component designer and manufacturer. This strategic integration of Artemis portfolio companies combines complementary technical expertise across optical design, fabrication, thin-film coatings, filtering, diffractive gratings, infrared optics, and system-level metrology to create a unified optics and photonics partner for critical applications in Aerospace, Defense, Life Science, and Semiconductor Manufacturing.

By bringing the capabilities of both Optikos and Omega Optical under one roof, the strategic move addresses a fundamental shift in how today’s optical systems are developed. New Leadership Structure for Expanded Innovation Capacity
Effective immediately, David Cooper assumes the role of Chief Executive Officer of the new Optikos organization. Mr. Cooper has more than 30 years of industrial technology leadership experience, having most recently served as Chief Executive Officer at Omega Optical. His prior executive roles include leadership positions at Cerberus Capital Management, APITech (now Spectrum Control), Owens Corning, Honeywell, and Air Products & Chemicals. Mr. Cooper holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from The University of Texas.

What Is Planned for This New Chapter of Optikos
For current customers and supply chain partners, the combined organization remains committed to existing programs, contracts, and delivery schedules. Account structures, engineering points of contact, and product roadmaps will continue unchanged throughout the transition.
The integration nonetheless represents a meaningful enhancement to the capabilities available to customers. With design, fabrication, coating, and metrology consolidated under a single organization, customers will benefit from streamlined program management, reduced vendor coordination overhead, and integrated technical accountability across the full optical workflow.
